Assistant Professor, Cardiology, Medical College of Georgia

Dr. Avirup Guha, Assistant Professor at Augusta University, leads Cardio-Oncology at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Guha’s ongoing research, under the patronage of the American Heart Association and the Department of Defense, delves deep into the translational science concerning biological disparities between White and Black men with prostate cancer undergoing androgen deprivation therapy. A key focal point is the exploration of the proteomic aging pathways and their influence on vascular aging, further probing how social determinants of health modify their effects in the mentioned demographic. He is also a trained epidemiologist from Emory University and uses that expertise as the PI of the American Heart Association SFRN grant in Disparities in Cardio-Oncology, where he is the population science principal investigator. He is board-certified in cardiology, cardio-oncology, echocardiography, and several other cardiac imaging modalities.
