Peter Nelson, MD, is a physician scientist with a research and clinical focus centered on the pathobiology of prostate cancer. Dr. Nelson is a Professor in the Divisions of Human Biology and Clinical Research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and Director of the Sloan Precision Oncology Institute. He is a Professor in the Departments of Medicine, Genome Sciences and Pathology at the University of Washington. He co-leads the FredHutch NCI comprehensive cancer center’s prostate cancer program and is PI of the Pacific Northwest Prostate Cancer SPORE. Dr. Nelson’s research involves several domains relevant to prostate cancer treatment at the interface of basic and applied science. Areas of focus include prostate cancer genetics and genomics, studies of androgen receptor function, and the development and application of new precision oncology approaches for advanced prostate cancer.
